Louw is responsible for providing programming development and large data management for the State Lab, with a focus on scaling data analysis to large data sets. He provides distributed computing support and development on high performance computing clusters. Prior to coming to the State Lab, Louw oversaw the IT operations at UC Berkeley for the California Institute for Energy and Environment. Louw has also worked at a start-up called TubeMogul as a development operations engineer providing support for large scale distributed online video analytics.
Louw is trained in information security best practices and holds the GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst (GCFA) credential. He has presented on digital forensics and information security at numerous conferences.
